As far as I know, none of the pre NAZI uses and meanings had any of the cultist and eventual evil symbolism with which it is now associated.

Historically, the symbol had uses and meanings centering around the concepts of good luck, good fortune, peace, tranquility, communion with nature or the gods, and a plethora of positive things.

While these may bay been some of the initial reasons behind the German National Socialist Workers Party adopting the symbol as it’s own, the evils done under it have changed the meaning of the symbol for generations to come.

Learn a little history. It might change how you see things.

I found a coin (token) under a front door sill that was being replaced in a house originally built in the 1920's. The token had a "swastika" on one side and the image of an indian in full headdress on the other. It was from a shoe company and the symbol was from the Navajo culture where it was a symbol of good luck. All uses of this symbol pre-Hitler were without any evil intent as far as I know. I think I have another one from some forerunner of the Boy Scout's as well.
Symbols and words change, as Galenrog said, like Isis (an Egyptian god), now a terrorist group, or "gay", which always meant happy, now it has additional meanings.
