'Sup peoples! Came up on a piece I ain't never think I'd find. It's no doubt a Large Cent, but it's so raggedy I can't tell which year. Maybe one a ya'll folks could drop some knowledge on it. I gots to give a shout out to my boy Toofpik, who provided a brotha wit' invaluable research. He seen me swingin' dis thang across da street from Cypress Garden Projects and turned me onto dis park 'round da way. He say he heard some civil war types of $*** went down there a while back and maybe I could find a musket ball or some Yankee scrilla. Sho' 'nuff, I creeped down there one night and hunted that mug. There be a creek run through it, but it had been dried up on account of this drought and such, so I swung dis Minelab all up in dat creekbed. Dat's where I had found dis coppa.

I love reading your posts and the humor they bring, keep it up!

Since I don't know if you are trying to pull our collective legs or not I,m giving you the benefit of the doubt. Heaven knows my nephews and I have been known to write a humorous thread or two (in good fun). But if you are not than cool, and your threads are always welcome to me man. Life is too short to be making fun of people who are different than yourself. It is a nice find you have there and I would be proud of it if I were you.

curious - why are we leaning towards colonial instead of large cent. I have some cookie coppers as well and just assumed they were lc's. and btw the side discussion going on here is kind of awkward.

Uh how far deep was it?
Joe

Well, Mr. Houston...Great finds as usual. That's a Colonial Copper...Congrats and HH

Another great post!! ;D

Good find, keep it up don't let anyone discourage you because of the way you talk to do what you like. sometimes I feel like my Friends think I am a nerd because I M/D they say its a old dudes gig, but I just blow them off because I enjoy it and that's all that matters! Keep up the good work. By the way electrolysis may help clearing that coin/ token up I don't know for sure if it will hurt but it may help identify it. ::)

for those who realy need a translation.

Hi Everyone !
Got a surprising find today. I'm sure it's a large cent
But can't get a date off it.
Can any of you good People help me out with an ID ?

I want to thank Toofpik for the Research that lead to this site.
he saw me detecting across the street from the Cypress Garden Projects.
and told me about this park.
he told me he heard there was civil war activity there in the past.
and maybe I could find a musket ball or other Relics.

So I went down and searched it.
There is a creek running through the park, But it's dried up from the Drought,
So I got out My Explorer, and Detected the creekbed.
and found this.

First 2 are the Front.
Last one the back

I soaked it in peroxide for at least a full Minute but so far it's
not cleaning up.

Also Thanks Toofpik, Your The Man !
Your Lead was Awsome
!

Now that Everyone Has Had their say, Can we Please Move on,
and Not Repeat History ? & look to the Future ?

Please ! ?

Jeff
