Hey guys, had nite shift last night and decided on some dig therapy this morning after work. My original plan was head to the new cornfield that I got permission to hunt the other day and door knock along the way. The cornfield was my backup if I didn't get permission elsewhere, well the two doors I knocked were duds, no one home, so off to the cornfield I went, I turned the iron audio on and only discrimination at 20, my atpro barely made a peep as I did a permiter grid, zero, zilch, nada, no targets to be found. Well after about an hour of nothing I decided to head right down the road to the house I scored my first and only barbers and seated last week. I started gridding the front yard again where I scored all my Indians and silvers last time to see what I missed, well very close to the same exact spot of my little barber/seated spill I got that awesome 88-94 faint high tone at 10+, ya know im digging that! (still confused why they ring in such high #s there) dig a nice deep plug and pow! 1911 barber dime, my 3rd barber in 2 weeks, 2 years with none and now 3 in 2 wks!, talk about luck, man this hobby never ceases to amaze me! I dug some trash and got a nice mid 70s tone that occasionally popped to 81ish so I figured id let you guys hear what im hearing as I get ready to dig. I was figuring indian on that. I didn't capture any of the iron audio in this clip but that's ok, anyhow that target ended up being some sort of copper lid to something, nothing exciting, a little later I managed 2 clad coins and a bit more junk before calling it a day, I cant believe the luck im having lately, silver #19 and 4 consecutive hunts with silver! On the way home I stopped at 2 more places and got an easy permission for Thursday cause he was cutting the grass today and I got half permission at another place, this guy had to ask his sister who is co owner, looks very promising!! enjoy the vid, thanks for looking and HH!!

Thanks tom, the sandy soil there is very gentle on coins

Wow!!! Really nice clean Barber!!!!! Fantastico.

Congrats on your Barber. Another awesome silver for your collection!

That is a very pretty Barber dime! Excellent shape!

I'm curious, where does your ground balance? I'm wondering just how mineralized the soil is there.

Also, I really couldn't make out how deep that hole was, seemed wide enough but I couldn't tell the depth.

thanks!!, yeah the sandy soil gently cradles the coins there, theyve all been in tremendous shape coming out.
ive been ground balancing around 82-83
that plug was bigger round because i knew i was going deep. The deepest spot was about 8-9"!!!, im wondering if thats why barbers ring in at what quarters usually ring in at:dontknow:

Nice looking Barber, The only time my numbers ring higher then normal is when there are multiple coins in the hole. Silver seems to ring maybe one or two numbers higher then clad. I don't double check my holes with my propointer (always ends up being junk, waste of time) I double check with my machine for multiple coins if I don't see any while digging. Not sure if this helps, do you use the auto ground balance? Or just balance around 82-83?

One thing I just thought of, theres a lot of nails and trash in almost every plug I dig there, I wonder if that has something to do with it. I auto grnd balance, I dont even know how to do manual balance lol didnt even know it was an option:dontknow:

Nice barber, full liberty too..

Nice barber! I'm hoping to find my first this weekend. I'm going to a friends house about 40 miles away that was built in 1901 to detect.

82-83. That's interesting. Most of the ground I've been hunting tunes out at around 90-92
I would've thought that it would be more mineralized up there. Seems more rocky here too.

Strange how that works huh.

I've wondered about that, I know we can manually balance but I'm unsure how to use it to advantage. Any thoughts on the theory?

Thanks!

I know nothing about ground balance, all I know is I hold the button, bounce up and down til it shuts up, usually stops around 82-83 depending on where im at. Im sure im not reaping the full benefits of ground balance, but thats all I know for now lol
