My wife picked up this glass lid at a thrift store yesterday. Around the outer edge it reads PATD. FEB.12.56 DEC.17.61 NOV.4.62 DEC.6.64 JUNE.9.68. The inner circle reads SEP.1.68 SEP.8.68 DEC.22.68 JAN.19.69 and in the cross in the center is H F J Co. Can any of you help with the ID and possible value of this lid. It is 2 15/16 inches across. Thanks

Iv seen the white porcelain inserts with that same emblem, other then that not much help for ya...

Nice piece. I like Toecutter have dug several white seals but never a clear one.

The "Hero Cross"?, I think I read that it was a tribute to the veterans of the war in the States. HFJCo, Hero Fruit Jar Company, of Philadelphia. I'd guess this lid's from about 1880-1905. Here's a great picture of the factory, very cool to look at:

Thank You So much!

Yes, NJKLAGT is correct. I have a few of them. The emblem also appears on many jars.
