Hi i will be going to myrtle beach this summer and and am a very new to metal detecting. I just bought a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV and am slowly learning how to use it. I have only been out a handful of times but have managed to find about $2.00 in change already.. any tips or advice on metal detecting on a saltwater beach especially pertaining to my metal detector would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for all your help and advice.

:)

Well, I don't have any advice, but would like to welcome you to the forum.

Welcome to the hobby and forum. Don't get discouraged when your detector goes crazy in the wet salt sand. It wasn't designed for that. It should work ok on the dry sand though. Don't use to much sensitivity and keep the discrimination down so you can still hear a beep from a pull tab. Tune out the pull tabs, and kiss the gold rings good-by.

Buy a sand scoop with a long handle or a take down type. Take your tresh out with you too. Don't show any finds to anyone that asks. Just tell them of all the junk your finding and show them the bottle caps, etc. good luck.

Well i own a tracker IV too. Very good machine. Found numerous coins with it. Even two wheaties. Still havnt found silver. But there are too modes u can use. Sensitiviy at 3:00, disc at 10:00 and put it on tone mode. This should pick up all coins. Then sensitivity high and disc at 3:00 and tone mode. This should also pick up coins. These are also jewerly modes but dig anything that is low tone or broken tone. Sometimes broken can be a ring. But i would highly stay away from the broken tone. Never Hunt on all metal mode unless digging for relics. You could run into wires or dig lots of iron and get very mad. But yeah for hunting a salt water beach. THere has to be lots of activity. And stuff. so far i havnt found anything on my grandma's salt water beach. Probably cuz i go to fast. Well happy hunting.

welcome 2 the forum, but u might want 2 try heroin first, its less addicting

Now we're responding to a ten year old post with one word? Same what?

Me thinks this is spammmmmmmmmmmmmm

Make sure you get an early start. Was in SC a couple of days ago. Decided to go to myrtle beach. Traffic was so bad I had to abort mission and left to go to Religh NC. I think it would be a good beach to detect. Very early is the key word. Locals don't go in the summer.

10 years! I feel like I'm sending my voice through a vortex back in time.

Wonder if the OP found anything... :dontknow:
