Well I've been in central VA for almost 2 years and now I'm moving again. Heading to Savannah GA. This will my 6th state in 15 years (from NM to KY to PA to IL to VA to GA). I'm thinking (hoping) we'll be in GA a little longer than average this time. If any folks have any info, contacts or advice for hunting artifacts within a couple of hours of Savannah I'd sure appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Joe

I hate to see you go. Hopefully you will make it up this way once in awhile. One of my closest friends live in Savannah. He was a surveyor for years down there. He may know some spots, and would probably enjoy hunting with you. As kids, he and I fished together every day, and would look for points along our trail to the pond. I don't recall Justin ever finding any artifacts. He may have, but the fever never got him, like it did me. I will send you a PM of the name of a hunting preserve about 15 minutes out of Savannah. It's just across the river and I have pottery from there. I got bored hunting wild boar and started hunting artifacts.

All of this came from that area around my tree stand. I'm in that area about twice a year for work. Find some spots for us to hunt when I'm down! Lol!

I am sending this info for you to maybe get permission to hunt land close to this river, do not and I say again do not go on posted or protected lands or sites. Good luck in your work, I know how it feels to be in unchartered land and not know where to go.View attachment 885514

Maybe Americus or GArebel lives in that area. I know they find some quality in that area. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your new finds, rock

New area means new finds can't wait to see what you end up finding !!! I lived in savannah for a bit beautiful place but I couldn't give you a location I bet the beach would b my first stop ;)

Lots of good stuff in that area! I live too far away to hunt there on a regular basis. But I do get over that way from time to time. There is so much there from all time periods. I don't hear too much about Indian artifacts, Mostly bottles, coins, buttons, etc. Good Luck and have fun on River Street!
