Going to Toledo

I'm leaving for toledo, OH tomorrow and I wanted to take my metal detector. Would that be a wise decision now? Can you still MD when there is snow on the ground and the ground is frozen? Is there anybody from around there who can tell me if the ground is frozen there?

I live 50 miles due east of Toledo.
Ground is halfway frozen, still diggable.
Snow does not affect the detector operation. Only about 3 inches here now.

Hope this is not too late.
