Howdy all,
Todays post covers yesterdays hunt and todays. Yesterday I hunted a couple elementary schools to see if they were worth spending any time on. Like most small schools I pulled fair amounts of clad and trash. But did manage the mother of all junk rings. This thing is too cool to trash. So I have a medical skeleton on order who will wear it when he arrives. He will be the shops pimp named Bones. Complete with his pimp cup decked out in rhinestones. So since last night was a bust for any gold or silver we headed out on a mission tonight. We headed to a sports field that has produced well in the past. When we showed up we had the field to ourselves and were goin to town. After a while people were showing up and we were stuck in a small corner of the field. I was kinda pissy about it but oh well. I finally worked into a spot with a ton of surface coins which I started clearing with my propointer and screwdriver. Nickel after nickel and then I managed the ring. I was pokin and pokin at what I though was a nickel just under the surface but feeling nothing. So I leaned the screwdriver back and saw the ring on the end. I told Brandon my hunting buddy I had a ring and he asked if it was gold. I told him it hit in the nickel range so was either gold or trash. As soon as I snapped the pick I checked and sure enough it was 14k white gold. I guess it wasn't so bad being stuck in one spot after all. Sorry to be so long winded but this makes gold #20 for the year and I am still grinning. Thanks for looking and luck in the hunt.
