Birthday Score - Old Gold Ring from Lake!

Technically my birthday is tomorrow but since we’re so busy I celebrated yesterday.
I’ve seen people here having success with water hunting so for the first time I tried hunting my local lake’s beach.
Well I can say I scored maybe beginner’s luck but I’ll take it.
1937 NBHS Murchison Newark 10k gold ring
2nd ring looks gold but probably not, no mark

Also found 3 wheats + tons of tabs

Anyone know what is NBHS? And how do I find the original owner?

The NBHS I'm pretty sure is "New Brunswick High School" which is in New Jersey, Murchison Of Newark NJ was a mid-20th-century manufacturer specializing in custom sports medals, trophies, and achievement jewelry.
So it would make sense that "New Brunswick High School" would source their high school rings from them.

You could contact the school... BUT I doubt that without a name or at least some initials they would be of much help finding the relatives of the owner, who would of passed away by now since he/she would be a minimum of 105 years old if still living.

Yes from graduation but I added 15 years minimum to the 89 years to get to the point of getting far enough through school to get a high school ring.

That other ring is quite possibly gold also. Before 1906 stamping the purity was not required in the USA.

and yeah that sounds possible. the resovoir was made around 1946 but someone could have been carrying an older ring. I'll have to get it tested.

Fantastic! What a great score. Any towns near you with the initials " NB"? If you can find one, chances are you can look up that high school's year book for 1937. Are there any initials engraved on the inside of the ban? Good luck.

thanks, but Sadly no initials. I don't know of any 'nb' in CA but there is North Bend High School in Oregon. I'll have to look into it.

Look closer at the high school initials as shown in your 2nd pic, I believe it's NR instead of NB. Either way though, even if it had the owner's initials inside, they would most certainly have passed away several years ago as they would likely be about 107 years old by now. Any male who graduated high school in 1937 most likely served in the military during WW2. If they did, hopefully they survived the war and lived a long a fruitful life.
