For years I’ve tried the sand and water.
Some guys I meet who work the sand do a lot better than me.
I find swinging the coil in the sand difficult so I try the water
I think it’s just luck passing the coil over the target

For me these kind of hunts don’t occur to often finding some gold and silver etc.
It’s that special moment when I see something beautiful in the scoop that makes up for all the less productive hunts.
Like how oldmxrat says…if I’m not out there I won’t find anything and to soldier on and it keeps me in the game..
