I believe gold will be at 5,000 an ounce in the not so distant future. 5, 10, or 20 years down the road, I cant say, but that time will eventually come; unless we hit on some huge here-fore unknown deposits that dwarf anything found previously.
I have some books on gold mining from 1962 where the price of gold at that time was listed as 35$ an ounce. To fill up your car that same year was around 5$, which was about 1/7th the price of an ounce. Today it costs me about 30$ to fill up my car, but the price of gold is 1200$+.
So if you compare the price of gas filling up your car to how much gold it costs per ounce, it should only be about 30 x 7 or 210$ dollars an ounce for gold today. Instead it is almost six times that much.
