The gold bug 2 is a proven gold detector in mineralised ground, It is designed to find very smal pieces of metal.
It would be fine for relic,coin and jewellery hunting so long as you are prepared to dig everything. The gold bug has iron discrimination but not full range discrimination that coin and jewellery hunters often like to have and because it runs at 71KHz it will respond to small gold and silver chains better than most other lower frequency VLF detectors. As a relic hunter you need to dig all targets to be very successful
