I've just got into trying my hand at dowsing. I have followed what instructions I have found online, keeping an open mind with positive thinking. I just cannot seem to get any results at this point...Maybe some one can give me some advice.. Thanks..

Attached is a map of the gold claim I have and would appreciate your results at where I should start digging.. I outlined the creek in red..

look for your outside bend's in creek, when creek is flooding gold will drop out in making turn's in river and creeks, look for bed rock in creek,Claim%20Map.webp rocks will cause a dead fall for gold.the x in one of the bend's i mark is good place to start ,got a real good hit here.

In my opinion the only time gold will move in a stream is at very high water. You have to look upstream and imagine what the water flow would look like if it were 15 or 20 feet higher. What is an inside bend or outside bend may be fast water at that time. Look for things that would cause low pressure areas like large rocks. Dig a lot of test holes to find the pay streak...
Digital cameras make it easier if you can go there when the stream is at flood stage....Art

If you're going to try dousing...a printed paper image is about as good as toilet paper...

Go to the actual site and see what happens...

When you're convinced that doesn't have any results, then try a metal detector...

Thanks for the input guys...Besides testing I will also be using the medal detector. Okiedowser's green x is in a little canyon above the water falls and we have found good color in this stretch. As mentioned I'm keeping an open mind as one never knows until one tries...

Hi Cariboo5,
Dowsing revealed...
Green rectangle areas an attraction to placer gold.
Green circles are prominent placer gold attractions.
Thanks for posting your picture,
Jon

Thanks Jon. Your circle to the right is just above the falls and its hard to tell by the map but this little creek is in quite the canyon. I have attached three pictures of the fallls which also show some of the bedrock and areas where the gold may get held up during high water as aarthrj3811 mentioned. During the spring the water is a fast rushing torrent however there are quite a few bends which are good gold catchers.

The claim below this one the fella has hung onto for 23 years which I think speaks for itself as most people will let a claim expiry if no good...Thanks again to all...

Hi Cariboo5,
You're welcome....would you be able to zoom in a bit on those areas Okie and I have posted?
Not an oblique pic but from straight up.
It would probably get you a more precise location.

Yellow circles for some of the best spots for placer gold.
