I have found a several gold plated rings in the past and all were old. There wasn't a lot of money around in the old days and that is the reason I think they were plated. I've also found three old rings marked gold that weren't, all three were brass and were also old.

My guess would be that the plated ring above probably had a cameo or some sort of synthetic stone in it.

It certainly held up well for being plated.

They certainly look like they have been in the deep for a while, did the silver come out like that or did you clean it?

I had to clean it. All the old silver needs to be cleaned that's found in the salt water.
