Gold Prospecting around Madison,Wi

Just wondering if anybody knows any good creeks to prospect around Dane, or surrounding counties. Its hard even to find a creek with sand and gravel in it, let alone any placer gold. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, I read that Baxsters Hollow State Natural Area, just west of Devil's Lake State Park had a Gold Mining Station called Otterville on Otter Creek. Unfortunately, it is illegal to prospecting on State Natural Areas in Wisconsin, so I can't find out if there really is gold there.
Anybody know about gold or creeks near Baxster's Hollow or Dane County?

Hey, I just talked with the Wisconsin DNR today...It is NOT illegal to prospect on State Natural areas,

Tory, There have been about 4 places I have speculated that gold would be on state natural areas in sauk county, but this link http://dnr.wi.gov/files/PDF/pubs/wa/WA1504.pdf says it is illegal. Might have to call/email them myself. The document is from 2010 but it looks like the only one on prospecting.

Just emailed the DNR... they said “No person may collect rocks, minerals, or fossil materials on state natural areas, state wild rivers, state parks, state trails, Havenwoods forest preserve, state recreation areas, Point Beach and Kettle Moraine State Forests, and any specific site which is designated as a noncollection site by the department”.
