That's hilarious... Set off the detectors 28 times and they never found gold on his body. What a hoot.

My thing is... he was only convicted of stealing 22 of them? What? were the first 6 times "practice runs?" (no pun intended).

Talk about the goose laying the golden egg. LOL

I am guessing that if he could build up a history of the detector falsely alerting on him, it might make the security people not check him as hard.

The only reason he was caught is because he used the gold dealer next door to his actual bank. At the 18th cheque, the teller put two and two together because the branch knew where he worked and called the cops. The Mint had no idea. Caught because he choose convenience over guile.
