Yowzers!...that's awesome!

I don't know anything about jewelry or about MDing. But I think your title should have been "Diamond, with a little gold ring attached!"

Hope for you it's the real deal.

Hey guys, you wanted me to keep u posted and im sorry to say that the rock is a syntethic. It's the gold that is worth the money here, if the rock would have Been real and the size on it would have Made it worth +55000$ happy future hunting all of you and best of luck

Well..keep lookin, there has to be a REAL one out there somewhere.

How did you come up with the "synthetic" ?
IF you took it to a jeweler...
Definitely get a second and even a third appraisal.

Did the person who said it was "synthetic" offer to buy it by any chance?

Yes, more details on how it was determined to be synthetic? Someone you have never met before didn't take it 'into the back room to check', did they? *bites nails*

Great find.

Wow what a ring

18k + crown hallmarks = real stone. Please have it checked by someone else.

hmm, well you guys have the best knowledge about this. I'll have it checked with another jeweler just in case. Hopefully it's a real one, and it was the jeweler who said it was synthetic

Devarious,

I'd definitely get at least 1 more if not 2 opinions....jeweler's have been known to say the stones are phony hopping they can pick up a ring for a song and resell it as the real mccoy.

Seriously though, we are interested how the transaction happened. Did he/she just look at it with an eyeball and say "yep, fake". Did he/she take it into a back room and come back out 8-10 minutes later? Or did you hand them the ring and have them immediately apply a high-end diamond tester to the stone? 18K with nice hallmarks plus fake ice is an odd combination for sure. This ring seems to have aspects of being very special/unique... Not your every day wearer.

Absolutely have it double checked. A quick check though is to "fog" it with your breath. Real diamonds dissipate the fog so quickly you'll probably not see it after you finish breathing. Do it to a pair of glasses first (to know what you should be looking for if it's not real), the fog test it.

Also be aware that "Synthetic" diamond should have a designation, like CZ or glass.

The very best thing you can do is WATCH the diamond tester being used on the diamond. If the jeweler takes it in the back, that's not a good sign. My father lost a very valuable diamond that way, because a jeweler switched it out with a crappy one (which was not noticed for about a month). It was clearly not the original...

Definitely keep eyes on that thing. As you noted, it's worth quite a penny if it's real. If you can, compare pictures with your current gem just to be sure.

I'm in total agreement that 18K plus a big stone is VERY non-typical to have the stone be fake.

When i gave it to him i could see the ring the whole time he just took a look at it, no special tool were used. When i first got the ring home i actually blew air at it, the fog did disappear instantly, the stone cant be scratched either, not sure what Else i can look for.

It's probably a correct ID but if he didn't use a jewelers loupe you can "look for" a jeweler with a diamond tester that is not fooled by Moissanite.

Half of all jewelers are crooks. heh

I cannot begin with "jewelers stories".
Biggest game going IMO.
