A todfart? Don't you mean a braintod?

I was just glad to see that ONE member of the party had the common sense and intelligence to walk away from the stupidity and get a real job.

This Fridays episode: "In the Black"

The Hoffman crew risks its all to run through the night in a bid to finally break even for the season.
Fred has to abandon his best paydirt yet when his excavator gets stuck in the pit.
John Schnabel returns to the Big Nugget Mine after his heart attack.

LOL, I know that's MY goal.... Bust my ass all season just to break even. They would have been better off working at McD's. But then there is the channel paying them, so they don't really care.

True, But keep in mind, there are people that would pay good money just for the adventure... :laughing7:

Isn't that what the GPAA Alaska Adventure or whatever they call it is for? Those people aren't trying to run a gold mine, they are just out for fun and only there for a week IIRC. Big difference.

I just finished watching episode 16...

Just off the cuff, my thoughts are that for $110,000 so far, split between all those guys, plus the cost of fuel, equipment, insurance, and the general high cost of doing business in that area...did they make much of anything?

I read once that the guys on Pawn Stars received $8,000 an episode in their first season. I would guess that the Hoffman's are getting far more than that per show.

Oh, I also have a question:

Anyone know how much diesel a D8 like the one that the Hoffman's are using will realistically burn in an hour of normal use?

What is the current cost of diesel in Canada? How much is it in the Klondike area?

It can't be cheap, I'm sure!

Don't forget the Hoffman's also have to pay the claim owner 10% off the top.
Plus old man Hoffman owes Fred $100.00 for loosing the bet. :tongue3:

You know, I have had this stuck in my head..

Gold Rush--they shoot for 100 ounces in a season..
Bering Sea gold-- 1,000 ounces..

Friday night the barge on the Bering Sea show cashed in 72 ounces, In 1 haul. That is almost the whole season on the Gold Rush show in 1 day.. Just an unbeleivable difference..

Just Imagine if Figures if that Excavator had a bigger Bucket!!! ::)

Poorhunter

P.S. I said I was going to melt gold and cast a bullet.. I was unable to get to the garage to use the torches this week.. But don't sweat.. I will get to it in the next couple days.. Family comes first... I am anxious to see it happen myself... :headbang:

I noticed that Fred has gold fever worse than anyone I have ever seen! :o
Just think, Fred and son have brought in just as much gold as the whole Hoffman crew put together!

Great work ethic !

SEASON FINALE! This Friday at 9p E/P

Winter's grip is closing fast as time has just about run out for the miners. The Hoffman crew is desperate to get 100 ounces, but Todd's decision to run the dozer on solid ice ends in disaster. The Big Nugget mine faces closure if Parker fails to hit a pay streak.

Dakota Fred thinks he's finally found Jack Hoffman's glory hole :o :laughing7:

Will Fred give Jack any credit? :icon_scratch: The reality is, if it were not for Jack, Fred would not be on the gold. :BangHead:
100 oz. spread over six men, claim owner share and operating expense = $.00 But lets just say it covered all operating cost and then they recovered another 100 ounces. That would give them about 89 ounces of real gold, which will come to about $150,000. That works out to $25,000 each, plus what the show is paying them. :icon_scratch:
All I can say, is thank goodness them ole boys are a gonna make money off the show.
I still envy them, as they are there and here I am stuck behind a desk for the most part. :BangHead:

SO MUCH DRAMA :evil5: :whip2: :BangHead: :argue:

I CAN'T HELP BUT TO WONDER HOW MUCH PER HOUR THESE GUYS HAVE EARNED FROM THE GOLD ALONE... NOT COUNTING THE SHOW MONEY. :icon_scratch:
:coffee2: :coffee2:
MIKEL

I don't think they have even covered operating costs yet, so...... $0.00

I think the Hoffmans lost a lot of gold, washed out due to the sluce sanding up in the wash plant. The gold found in the melted ice chunks proves that to me. The only reason they got as much, or as little..??... as they did, is because they stopped and cleaned out so many times. I've seen accounts of wash plants that work go several weeks before each clean out. Hoffmans probably only got about a 8 hours worth each cleanup because the sluce got sanded up and gold began washing out in 8 hours worth of dirt. For some interesting gold equip., Claims, ads, visit www.icmj.com also all that down the during the 4 months, why did not some of the crew pans or prospect more than just the one guy. Lot of wasted time.
The GPAA trip to Nome runs for up to 8 weeks, at 1050 bucks a week, after a $400 reg, fee. , but u must get to the Nome Airport at your expense. That $1050 covers food a bunk restooms and some equip. They say the Nov storms were the worst since 1974 and the storm occurred before the sea froze so the Waves cleared the top of the 15 foot turdra beach banks and many business and homes got flooded in Nome. The Gpaa is opening a new beach area for hibanking that belongs to a Native Group, next to their own beach property and they have hi hopes for that this year.

Hello Fans.....a few thoughts on tonight's epilog feature.
You may have noticed none of my crew was shown on the epilog tonight. No coincidence....I refused to participate in the filming in Oregon. This was filmed only 6 weeks after the infamous twisted Episode 1 of Gold Rush. I was having some very serious "discussions" with the film crew, and the network people. Having been bitten twice by the film crew, and the Network people, I declined to participate in the Oregon filming. After seeing all the dirty laundry aired on tonight's program, I certainly did the right thing.
Discovery has been doing the right thing lately by sending me to "Meet and Greet" shows. It's great Public Relations for them, and me.
I will be mining Porcupine Creek this season. There's a good chance I'll also be doing some "How To Mine Gold, Small scale and Large scale" along with the other filming. Mining can get boring when all goes well, so we'll probably throw in some interesting things you would love to do if you had a chance to do them......fishing, hunting with a camera, exploring, visit other mine sites, talk to unusual people,....all the adventures I've experienced in Alaska over the years.
I'll keep you posted..................Freddie
