i found this on the ground in a place in ontario canada called red lake. it is the worlds biggest producer of pure gold. i went for a visit this last weekend and found a few nice rocks on the ground. this is one of them.

Looks like shale or slate to me...perhaps take better pictures...I would figure pure gold would be flakes, nugget, etc. If anything are you suspecting its gold ore or something of that nature?
 
Don't see any gold..:dontknow:
 
I think he/she is referring to the flaking color in the material...but you get that in shale/slate from other minerals being in the pancaking layers of sediment.
 
That is absolutely muscovite schist.
