Last weekend, some friends who are metal detector enthusiasts came to visit me, so I decided to take them to one of the many ghost towns I've visited so they could have some fun. At the end of the day, they surprised me with this gift sent directly from Mexico—a couple of cob coins.

Mexican mint "OMF" mint mark !! Awsome finds !!

Date would be either 1607, 1610 or 1614 if readable. Felipe III (reigned 1598-1621)
The only dates for that coin with the exception of one dated 1618/17 with a D/'F assayer mark.

It really is old. Thank you very much for the information.

Outstanding Achievement!!!!!!
Congratulations on your success..

They aren't; they're just hunting in parks.

Presumably these wonderful coins would have been lost when the Spanish were in Nevada? They seem unusually older than most coins found in western ghost towns.

I think you misunderstood. Those coins weren't found in the state of Nevada; once a year, they go to Mexico to search for colonial sites, and that's where they found them. That was a gift they gave me.
