These aren't the best finds in the world but for me I'm super happy with them as I hardly find anything all that great. Had a few hours in Hornitos today and found some cool things. Found an old Chinese coin. I did my best make the writing on the coin show in picture but wouldn't come out clear as it looks to the eye the coin is toasty but the writing is clear enough on one side, found some old mir_20210822_174013.jpg 20210822_174643.jpg 20210822_174648.jpg 20210822_174741.jpg 20210822_174751.jpg 20210822_174810.jpg item that was under ground under some flat rocks, then some sort of object that I don't know what it is, and finally a freaking gold nugget a huge surprise not big at all but I am stoked to have found one wasn't even looking for raw gold lol. Have a nickel in some pictures for size comparison. Thanks for looking and if anyone one can tell me about any of these finds I'd love to know more about them. 20210822_163534.jpg 20210822_174542.jpg 20210822_174616.jpg 20210822_174629.jpg 20210822_163605.jpg mir_20210822_174214.jpg mir_20210822_174254.jpg

You did well. The Chinese coin is probably 18th century. Were you using the Deus? I sniffed out a nice sterling chain at the ocean yesterday with mine. Gold nuggets are nothing to sneeze at either!

Also funny thing upon digging the gold nugget I picked it up expecting foil or slaw junk and as soon as my brain realized what it was without thinking I yelled gold excitedly. My mother was out with me metal detecting too with the AT Pro and she at first said I was lying lol. I get very excited about any good finds as they don't come to often for me I don't get out often and most the areas I hunt are in walking distance from home that I had to work at getting permission to hunt on and most of the areas I've gone over 100s of time but I'm so stubborn and determined.

It would have looked like this originally
That's freaking awesome thank you. Another piece I can document now and add to my collection and be able to add to when I present old stuff I find when I do my volunteer presentation at an assisted living home. Only a part of it but makes for an interesting piece and adds to what I can show. I really value the information thank you so much

I used to go to the Hornitos area all the time when I was based at Castle. We knew a rancher that lived on Old Toll Rd, just west of town. We did a lot of shooting, hunting and hiking on that land. The rancher even had a gold mine on his property, his own ball mill and shaking table table. I actually have a vial with a small gold flake in it on my window sill that my dad found when he came out for a visit and I took him panning there. That was 25+ years ago. Looking at google maps I think the house has burned and I'm guessing he and his wife have passed away years ago. They were great people and it's beautiful country out that way. If I may suggest, try taking La Paloma Rd that goes off Snelling Rd out there next time you go that way. Very scenic.

I've more than likely been around there. It is quite nice out there. Me and my mother will just explore the roads and check out all the ruins of old mining settlements and such dotted all over there. Lots of grazing lands so can't metal detecting but seeing it all is always neat.
