I can see where burning salt water could be economically feasible but at what cost to the oeanographic ecosystem down the road?

It's not a hoax and its being developed right now.

The guy who discovered it was looking for a cure for cancer and could care less about the burning saltwater, believe it or not. He said if it does take off, he'll sell it and continue looking for a cure for cancer.

Right now though it uses more energy than it puts out, but it's still pretty cool to see saltwater burn.

Actually if you do a search on youtube for "water car" or "hydrogen power" you will find it is possible and being done sucessfuly by folks to supliment there gas, as much as doubling thier milage.
The trick is to make it under the hood from water,instead of buying Hydrogen at the pump, any one with a little mech. ability can do this.
Hydrogen will NEVER be delivered over the road in bulk enough to power the comunities vehicals, its just to volital to carry around in liguid form and would be like carrying acetyline around.The pressure vessel would have to be to thick and heavy to hold the fuel

Basic physics...you cannot get more energy from energy....every time energy is used...there is a loss.
Your almost talking perpetual motion...which has yet to be proved.

Even if you used the energy created from the burned saltwater to power the generator that creats the radio waves to burn the saltwater...a power loss is created and eventually would lose all the energy.

Its not perpetual motion, its extracting Hydrogen from water, takes very little Elec. Can be done and is being done just not as effeciently to run a Full size car down the road (yet).
Monty hydrogen at this time is not easily transported, to much pressure, and to hot a gas. probaly never will be.
A research facility at A&M has been able to lower the boiling point of natural gas in liquid form thus decreasing its pressure while maintaining its "BANG" so who knows. of course theres always the Volitility problem,its a Very hot fuel, Ignites at low tempertures and within a VERY wide range of air gas ratio.
This is why Propane is safer than most folks realize it has to be lite with something Very Hot, (cigarett wont do it, spark open flame- Yes) and has a small range of air gas mixture to ignite, its usally to rich or to lean.

They are building a LP pipeline here in Northern Illinois.Its a pretty big project in scope of length:
887 miles of 36-inch-diameter mainline pipeline extending
from the border of the United States (U.S.) and Canada near Sherwood,
Renville County, North Dakota, to a point near Joliet, Will County,
Illinois. Of the 887-mile-long mainline, about 324 miles would be in
North Dakota, 252 miles would be in Minnesota, 189 miles would be in
Iowa, and 122 miles would be in Illinois.

They are tearing up alot of ground
