This weekend was a good one for hunting silver. I picked up my usual 2 boxes Friday and took my time on them all weekend.

Also Saturday morn I had almost $600 burning a hole in my pocket so I went bank hunting. Every Saturday I head in a different direction. This time I went West for a few miles then south on a main Blvd. Hit a few banks before turning and not much to talk about. Then after turning and driving 10 minutes I came upont a shopping area I had not driven past in a few years. All the signs were in Korean. I could see four Korean banks within one block. I thought about driving past because I knew these were all FOB Koreans(Fresh Off the Boat) and didn't think they would be taking old U.S. silver to their bank. But I decided to stop at the closest one to give it a try. I went in and up to the first available teller and pulled out a half dollar and an Ike dollar put them on the counter and asked her if she had any like this. She took the half and put it in her drawer then she bent over and reached under her counter and pulled out a baggy of Ikes and put my dollar in the bag and sealed it. I asked her what she was doing with my coins and she thought she wanted me to sell them to her. I explained what I wanted was the opposite and she got embarresed and quickly went to all the tellers and got me all the halves and Ikes in the bank. (got a 1978S proof IKE from her - no pic, it didn't come out to well, just too shiney) So I think next weekend I am going to my local Chinatown and the weekend after that Little Siagon.
Well to make a long story short I went to every bank there and spent most of my money $546. Every bank had rolls of halves and hand fulls of Ikes. Here is what I got just from those four banks.
1 Ben Franklin (see pic - real nice)
2 - 90% JFK
14 - 40% JFK (one is a 1776-1976 silver proof and a 1969 silver proof)
160 IKES

In one of the rolls I also got a $2 canadian coin and another roll I got a L.A. Bicentennial Dollar I thought I got shorted on that roll because of that coin. Nope, I counted $10 + the token.

Here is the pic of my weekend silver.

But, Friday night was the best. My daughter is a sophmore in high school and is in their Jazz Band and Friday they had a battle of the bands with six local high schools. Those kids are good. After two bands each play sepetatly three pieces they both join together to play one together. My daughters band and the other band played "In the Mood" If any of you are old enough to remember it was one of the top songs in the 1940's by Glenn Miller. It was really something to hear over 40 pieces of brass playing like old pros.
