I went back to the old park to see if the Nox could sniff something good out of the old burn pit section. Sure enough, these two US Indian Service buttons were down in some gopher tunnels. Thanks for looking! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1544730908.116477.webp

gopher the gold Those are awesome relics I wish I had that kinda history here Fun to think how those were lost soooo long ago and for you to re discover them Well done great post

I’ve actually found a number of buttons swinging over groundhog dirt piles. Maybe they are relic hunters, but I found a War Nickel in one pile so maybe they prefer coin hunting... nice buttons, congrats!

Thank you everyone!

I realize these buttons are fairly uncommon throughout the US, so here's a brief description. The buttons are a two piece variety that's about as big around as a quarter with a loop shaped shank. It's possible they date back to as early as 1890, but I suspect they're from around the 1940's based on what I've found in the immediate vicinity so far. I'll be going back to dig more low tones to see if I can find any further evidence. ATB&HH!
