It's probably a US Large Cent. Nice digs.
 

Draped bust LC I would say. 1796-1807. Looks like the hair bun to me

Well ... seeing as how you are on the east coast, and seeing as how LC's and colonial coppers are brimming out of every sand box on the east coast, I vote : Large Cent

To me, the one on the right seems to have an inner circle.
