After looking for a new gold machine for a couple of years now. I laid out the bucks for a Super Traq. I was at the Gold Show in phoenix. AZ. I had just finished a Seminar put on by Les Berg, the head honcho at JOBE Wholesale, LLC. With David Johnson as a guest speaker! I could not have asked for more. No brands where pitched, but they, dem-oed some points on a couple of machines. With this seminar, and my previous experience of witnessing a tiny gold nugget detected in a 5-gal bucket of black sand! by a Lobo, on a concrete floor loaded with rebar. I was Hooked. :sign13: I got a great deal from Ryan of A & B Prospecting Supplies here in AZ. Who was set up at the show.
I will post after using the machine, when possible, one thing i did get,,, when I was carrying around the box, i had a lot of people quietly say great machine, i have one, you will really like it, etc.

The LST is a great gold machine and is one of the best ground trackers in the business.
Practice a lot with the three Mineral modes to get to know how they effect the machines ability to respond to gold; You will generally use the Normal mode most of the time.
Only use the Black sand mode in black sand areas or where the Iron mineralisation is extreme. Quite a bit of depth/sensitivity is sacrificed in this mode.
Set the discrimination to zero when searching for gold of any kind, or better still, Always use All Metal mode when gold hunting.

I just moved from that area. My family has a gold claim and i use to do some prospecting in that area. I was swinging aMXT300 but when i go back i would like to get a LOBO. Congrats on a great machine and de careful out there in that desert.

I was looking for some information on the LST as a beginner gold machine.
A friend recently bought a place near Meadview and wants me to come up this
June for some nugg/space rock hunting. I have hunted in AZ several times but
was ill-equipped for nugget hunting.
Not to be nosy but are you finding gold with your LST? I have a SilverU-Max
and this friend sells various detectors as well as the Tesoro line. He can now
get Minelabs too. Should I spend the big bucks for a Minelab or is the LST a
noble substitute?

Thanks,

That is a good detector Arid.

It is very sensitive to small gold.
I have a very small nugget of gold and the LOBO is the only detector I own that will detect it about 2" away from the coil.
There may be other detectors that are more sensitive but you will pay thousands for that extra.
For the money the LOBO is a real sweet detector that will pay for itself.

I have been in the Casle Dome area, and north up the Hassayampa. I found head phones are a must.( the hot rocks are very common). As I am still in the learning mode I think the question is a P.I. machine or VLF like the Lobo? I believe the lobo to be the best VLF. And I could not afford a top of the line Minelab,P.I. But ya know???? I see a lot of used minelabs for sale at the sawp meets and yard sells, in the phoenix, and surrounding area. The main thing is going to the spots where nuggets have been found in the past, unless you can detect 24-7 and prospect all that land out there!

Here are the finds from the last trip, with the Lobo. Willie is right,,, the small ones where only about two inches down.

#2. these are some tiny nuggets,,,, The big one is an amalgam, probably dropped out of a pocket, the next largest one has a lot of copper in it and was tested at the 'Weaver Mining' office.
