Got a ? Need some help please

I need a magazine or a book that shows and identifys the different things used during the civil war.

For example if I found a weird piece that went on a saddle I could look it up in this book and see the peirod it was used.

If anyone has one or something like this and would like to sell or donate please let me know. Barnes and Nobles does not carry anything like that anymore b/c they are not published anymore.

I don't know if there is such a book or books. But I personally would research such items on the net at places like this or ebay or google. Or even I would hit some larger Libraries, or as a last resort a museum that specialized in CW artifacts, but I would be very careful at a museum as to letting anyone there know I had found anything.
