A friend of mine had 2 of these and decided to give me one. The one he has is marked Germany on one end. It is 9 1/4 inches in length, and 1 3/8 across in the center. I don't think its stone, maybe fired clay, or possibly ceramic. Any ideas?

I did think about the loom threader, but i just tried with an antique straight razor i had , i could never put a shaving edge back on it, but this thing sure did. Im going with the sharpening stone, unless anyone has any other ideas. It was one of my first guesses, but it likes carbon steel the best. Thanks for you all and your time.
