Awesome find! A wild guess would be tourmaline. I see some tiny black tourmaline in the second pic.

Iron hematite as smokey mentioned most likely.

Steve you seem to be in the same general area where you found agates. If you want to find other minerals you have to move out a little. In an earlier post I mentioned to you the possibility of finding other rarer minerals. A good place for you to do so would be where you found that shattered quartz. Start from there and then fan out at least two miles. If you find any mica in veins that is a good indicator, so search around a little.

You are less likely to find any new minerals where you are now.

Thanks everyone for replying, by chance what do you call that formation, they look like tubes, I tried googling hematite on quartz and it looked nothing like that, maybe need the technical name for those spray tubes, which is probably what I'll Google next lol.

Oh yeah Moesia, I'm not out exploring, well mostly not further than the garage, maybe a quick hike but I can't get out to my spot, it's way to hot out, it's like 100 degrees by 8:30 to 9am here.

Thanks Kray, I'm actually stumped, if you zoom in they are perfect round like a straw or tube and coated with clear quartz or something, I dunno, told ya I had an odd one, they dont have those striations so I'm not thinking tourmaline, but this crystal is also on this specimen and it looks a lot like dachiardite-ca but it's not hard enough. 20200709_101320.jpg

I think its solved, unless someone see's something else I'm gonna go with Smokey and Moesia, I googled stalagmite Chalcedony and it looks most like what I have, hematite I'm thinking is what is giving it that deep red color. Thanks again everyone :)

Hematite on apatite maybe? My fire agate is almost identical to the fire agate out at opal hill mine in the mule mountains and this other shape apatite crystal I've seen in my stuff.
