I've had a White's Spectrum XLT for a week as of today and figured I would post some pics of my finds. Most were found in my yard in West Pittston PA. House was built in 1900. Before that there was a shed or carriage house here. House beside me was built in 1857 and on the other side there is a newer house that replaced one that was also built in 1857. Oldest coins are as follows...1942 penny, 1945 Nickel, 1958 dime (only silver) and 1965 quarter. Coins are laid out in the following order...modern pennies, wheat pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters. Bottom 2 are a canadian dime and a token. other pic is just some interesting junk. Coolest item being a screw back pin that says "Member PDS Phila 1921". Can't find any info on the pin so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Whites xlt pro?

Are you guys referring to the whites xlt pro?

I was using a couple cheap detectors and decided to "go big" and get the pro. So far ive only hit a few local modern parks but have high hopes to find some spots to detect in franklin TN. I live on part of the battlefield of franklin but there are so many no detecting areas its insane.

Any advice on modding or adjusting the xlt is appreciated. I will be civil war hunting, ring hunting and coin hunting.

I have an XLT and love it... I use the secret silver program (JB's Metal Detecting Resource Site) don't tell anybody. You must use the different programs to find what works in your soil. You may have luck with the factory setting like they said above but learn your machine, it is a good one. I have a 6" trash coil which works great in tight areas but you can't cover much ground so I don't hurry.

XLT = Xtra Loads of Treasure so don't be fooled

I have a 6" that came with mine. Only used it once but think I am going to use it more. I go by the river and there is a lot of trash to go through. Beer cans coming up as coins is driving me nuts. I think I need to carry a small tablet with me and start writing readings down before I dig because I always forget them by the time I find my loot.

I don't have the pro...just says spectrum xlt on it. Made in 1995 but like new....until I started banging it around. lol

BROKE INTO THE 1800'S!!! Went to Luna Park in Scranton yesterday. It existed from 1906 to 1916. There is plenty of information online about it. Most of it is covered with what is now RT 81 but there is still some foundations. Spent 3 hrs there and only found one coin...a 1883 Indian Head Penny. When I found it I could only see the shield on the back and the front is covered in this black dirt we have around here. Stuff is like concrete. Been soaking in peroxide all night and this morning I could finally read the date on it. Looks like under that black dirt the penny is in very good shape. Will post pics in a day or 2 when the dirt is off.

One more thing....My Garrett Pinpointer is somewhere between here and Florida. Should have it tomorrow. Thank God, My hands are sore from digging huge holes...just to find nails and beer cans.

Nice find. I need to do something to find places here. Think i have been "visually lasered" 50 times here just poking around at parks and even in my back yard. Had someone tell me i should not dig up civil war artifacts as it ruins the historical value??? I ask how does it ruin it if nobody gets to SEE it???

Back to the xlt pro, mine shipped with the basic large DD and it pings all trash. Hard to determine what not to dig so i dig it all. Prob have $5 total in clad and nothing super cool yet.

Just realized im saying wrong machine. I have a whites mxt pro. Guess that makes a difference lol. Any whites forums or input for new users?
