Got up early today, as they were forecasting rain with some snow. I managed to hunt about 4 hours, then the rain started and I was just too cold. Hunted a busy soccer field with an adjoining baseball outfield. I got lots of loot and 4 rings.

Nice very nice. :headbang:

John, how do you do it?
According to my calculation, you located, dug and recovered an object of value (coin, jewelry, relic) every 1:43 for two hours straight. That includes more jewelry than I found in the last 2 months. Obviously you're physically fit just to do that much digging. And you must have years of experience with the 9 (count 'em!) detectors listed.

To what do you attribute this level of success? Physical fitness, practice (experience), research, location, equipment, or luck? Jeez, I could ask dozens of questions, all pointing in the wrong direction. I'm certainly not in competition with you - we're not even in the same country! What is the secret of your success?

A number of things.....I am a coin hunter. I love hunting coins, all of them including pennies. So I tend to dig almost all signals. As of to date, I am guessing I have dug about 115,000 coins.

I try not to use a digger....it slows me down. I get a signal, pinpoint off the toe of my coil and pop it out with a screwdriver as fast as I can. I hunt places for rings where nearly all the targets are shallow, meaning the top three inches. The Scorpion, even though it's an older analog machine just seems to bark a little louder on round holed objects such as round pull tabs, washers and of course rings.

I like to hunt places where I get the best chance of finding rings. First place of course is the water, and second place is schools. And I try and hunt every day, even if it's just for a half hour. I put my heart and soul into metal detecting. I always have, and have done so for over 15 years. I have been accused a couple of times of faking my finds....that is simply not true. There are others who out do me with their ring finds. below are some pics of my last three years worth of finds.

John,

First, I too am in awe of your finds and your dedication to the hobby. Your posts are always a pleasure to read and inspire us all (even non-Garrett users :D, though I'm this close to ordering that new AT Pro).

Second, you make some amazing finds using that gold prospecting detector. I mean, who would have figured?

Third, Most of us would never question your integrity or would accuse you of faking. Those that do are out of line. You've always been thorough in your explanations. So you keep on posting and ignore the nay sayers. They'll just sap your energy for nothing. :icon_thumleft:

Happy hunting, as if you needed that advice...

Hi John,
Your finds are awsome! :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: Some of the first times I started to read your posts , you were hunting in the snow and still getting the loot. :coffee2: Congrats on your digs. Extractor
