Relic Hunting
With the bad weather since Christmas, we have had few days to hunt this winter. As of late, I have hunted old home sites with Dman (Doug) and Tenn. Digger. Anyone who knows me well will quickly tell you that I'd rather be in a field or woods hunting CW relics than hunting old houses although I do enjoy hunting with friends. We all made a good find or two at the early 1800s sites and some were Civil War relics.
With 70 deg. predicted and Doug and Josh both working today, I traveled to a site with my enhanced F75 to try it out where we had dug a few relics previously and I dug the 2 dropped Big Boy .69s and three .58s. Feeling the heavy bullets in my hand as I moved a handful of dirt under the coil really felt good for the 2 hours I was out. Hope everyone can get out soon. HH, Q.

Thanks MSB, Nancy, OD, P4 in Tenn., Steve in PA, Richard, MM, Bill (nova treasure), IDI, JB, Nana, DV, CP, DI2, Dawg, and MTV.
MM is referring to some .58 & .69 cal. CW bullets that Dman bought from local relic dealers to sell in his store. He labeled the jars .58 & .69. The lady who works for him was very proud to tell him that she had sold some of his bullets when he returned from one of our hunts. She sold them for-you guessed it .58 cents & .69 cents each. He told her that was the caliber and not the price. She offered to make up the difference but Doug told her "Absolutely not-the story is worth more than that".
Of the 3 U.S. triangle camps, this one has more .69s than .58s so it must have been an early 1862 site. If one of the Big Boys hit an arm or leg, It would need amputation if one didn't bleed out before then. I do enjoy digging them. HH everyone, Q.

We each have our own special finds. The ones that really make us happy. Civil War, Revolutionary War, cowboys & indians, turn of the century odds and ends, glass, coins, etc.

If Civil War relics does it for you that is just fine! Spend as much time as you can doing what you love, where you love doing it. Life's too short.

Nice examples there!

Glad to see you adding to your collection, good job!
