Hey all, I just posted yesterday that I was waiting on my first 90%ers and what do you know, today's the day! I went to the main branch of my local bank and picked up $500 in halves. $300 were in MWR, 100 in bank wrapped rolls (I used to be a teller, I know), and they were originally only going to give me $400, because the last bit they had were in bags. I told them I was fine with the unrolled coins.
Got back to the house and found no silvers in the MWR or bank wrapped rolls, but THREE Franklins in the bag coins. Well, I went back and bought the rest of the bank out ($190), but only got a 2003 proof in the remainder of the bag mix. I'm stoked: my first 90%ers were Franks. I also pulled out 3 NIFC (2003 D, 2013 P, 2015 D). Oh yeah, the tellers said that their bags were "off" count because of some foreign/fake coins I asked to buy them and they just gave them to me. Got a 1937 UK Penny, a 1954 Greek 5 Drachmai, and a 1979 Mexican Peso.
Also did $39.00 in cents yesterday. Got another zinc planchet. That's two in a week. Funny how that works out, I only ever found one other and that was over 15 years ago. Also got 6 Canadians ('41, '61, '64(x2), '80, '97, '00) and 11 wheats: '36, '40, '41D, '44D, '45, '49S, '56D (x2), '57D, and a '58 uncirculated.
Well, I got another 2 boxes of cents to do this weekend. Looks like I'll be running through that instead of detecting, unless I get up the will to head out in the rain tomorrow. No more halves for a while until the bank gets some more in.
