Got out for my 58th Birthday today with My Nephew

site of Shady Oaks Minature Golf Course built in 1930



in 1932 when a Jr.Sr. High School was built just to the West of it,
a street was put through the middle of the golf course.

the Stock Market Crash in the early 30's put an end to most Luxuries,
including Golf, so the land north of the new street was donated for the first Swimming pool.

one Hot day after the young boys finished playing games, they headed up with pics & shovels to a stream in the former golf course, and dug a hole to play around in & cool off.
The hole was about 8' X 10'
later with the help of the towns people & the Colleries , who supplied the Mules,
wagons & scoops, the first pool was built



by 1938 a Cement pool was built in the middle of it.



and
now the Cement pool is beyond repair considering costs & lack of interest



but the Park is still used on occasion for picnics & a yearly Carnival.
