Looks like maybe some Navajo jewelry or something. Love those diverse finds like that and the foreign coins too. :icon_thumleft:
 

Can we see the back of the barrettes to help date?
I'm guessing the right one is black onyx and the star effect is from the camera flash?

Could be a flash effect, but the striated lines showing in the stone are very typical of star saphire. They are in fact what causes the star effect.
