Got skunked down at the soccer field and playground.

We hit some soccer fields today. I only had 45 minutes so i searched over by the picnic areas. There was so much trash and my detector isn't built for discriminating.
So then i went over to a nearby park and searched the whole dang thing and had only a penny to show for it.

I'm seriously thinking about upgrading to a better machine. Probably in the 200-300$ range. I've heard good things about the minelab anmd ace 250s. Can anybody who actually has one of those machines post some of the stuff they've found with it and give a little review on it for me? Thanks in advance.

Hey Cinder......don't give up hope! Starting out dry really stinks some days. I figured out a couple of years ago that it's not the machine, it's the places you hunt. Most of the places I was going were thoroughly picked over! I thought I was doing something wrong until I saw another detectorist going over the areas I liked to hunt in!

I have a really cheap machine and I find plenty of goodies with it! Some days are just better than others! Good luck with your future hunts!

I would agree with that. Some days I find nothing, other days lots. I've got the ACE 250 and have only been hunting since last march. I have found a gold ring, a tiffany watch and an IH penny but I've logged LOTS of hours on the machine and use a sniper coil for trashy areas. Too frustrating digging them sometimes. Happy Hunting!

when you search soccer fields, check around the backs of the goals. people leave things there for the goalie to keep an eye on it. and when your starting out dig everything, that way you can learn what your MD is telling you. good luck
