wasnt planning on going out today. My son had a bday party today and afterwards I just was gonna lounge around. Well I put up a bunch of pics of my favorite finds to date so far this year in an earlier thread and all that did was make me wanna get out pretty bad! So i hiked 42 miles (and by hiked i mean drove lol) up to my spot and hit it super slow in the front yard. I thought id try switching frequencies and going in pro mode with iron discriminated out to 40. I only made 4 passes in this long front yard and that literally took me 2 hrs! I sniffed out 5 more wheats, 2 buffaloes (1 no date, & 1937) a 1940 jefferson nickel, and a 1903 IH! with nice detail. plus another flat button. the last pics are my whatsit for today. THis thing is tiny, like the size of a 3 cent coin, I have no clue what it is and if you can make out the pics its a man sitting on a chair with another man standing in front of him:icon_scratch:Im stumped on this one, the back side is the same thing. Any one feel free to chime in on it. Thanks for looking and HH!! 130728_0009.webpfront n back.webp130728_0013.webp130728_0015.webp

Nice way to scratch the itch! :icon_thumright: The mystery item almost looks ancient or a reproduction of an ancient motif.

it has that acient look to it but it wasnt that deep, only about 5 inches. Its not lead, and idont think its silver either, registered at 55-57 on the atpro

Nice finds.. Glad you had some success on your hunt..

The pic on the whatsit reminds me of a Doc and Nurse examing a patient (the seated stick figure).

That, and the fact that no human being on this continent had metallurgy capability to strike such a coin during ancient times.

Nice finds!

nice coins..... but you better get some penicillin for that itch...lol

detecting is my medicine lol. Sometimes when im having a bad day, a little detecting clears the head!

that little coin is so familiar, closest i could find was this..

erf_rp3466.webp

a laureate draped bust.

any chance you could take some better photos both sides from many angles to catch detail?

You hiked 42 miles to detect??? Looks like a Roman coin...

You hiked 42 miles...???

I the backside it back? I only ask because i found a "coin" once with a viking looking ship, but it turned out to be some sort of button or something..do you have any way to test the metal?

Mani wanna live where you live! I've found a WW1 equipment marker and a Model T valve stem cover but no old coins lol.

Thanks! i suppose living in one of the first few founded states helps:tongue3:

I'm in South Carolina lol

get out there and door knock!, or just take a country stroll and look for old farm houses to get permission from, its working well for me so far. Last year i didnt have the nerve to door knock but i said to myself this year "if ya want old finds, ya just gotta get permission" its rare that parks or public places will produce the goods unless youre super patient. have at it and HH!
