went to a local museum for a short lecture on local Native American artifacts. After demonstrating how they were used, he (Arrowhead Fred) sat down & whipped out a point in about 10 min. It was amazing! Especially since he only has 1 hand. He also let us use a drill to make holes in rock. It was so fast! I always wondered how they did it.
If anyone has a chance to go to the Marble Hill, MO museum, please do. We are lucky to have such a wonderful facility in such a small town.

Sounds like fun mammabear!

wow! A one handed knapper huh? I bet that took some practice? it is amazing how fast an accomplished flint smith can knock out an arrowhead.

Sounds like you had an enjoyable time. Thanks for sharing!

that is way way cool mamabear

It was a lot of fun. I found it interesting that he preferred moose antler to elk or deer for knapping. He has done it for 50 yrs. That's why he whipped one out in 10 min.
