Good Evening CRHers!
A story for your consideration... and humor
Story 1:
With tonight being family outing night at the local theater my girlfriend and I thought we would head down to our university to buy some discounted movie tickets at the student union ticket booth. One problem... neither one of us had the cash to pay for the said transaction (around $50) and credit cards weren't an option seeing as they didn't accept them. The no cash situation was due to having undumped halves sitting at home.... Since university police frequented the area often, parking wasn't an option (especially since we didn't own a parking permit); therefore, one would have to drive and wait while the other would buy the tickets. Well, my girlfriend decided it would be easiest for her to go and I wait, so i handed her 5 rolls of halves and she went on her way...
Her story:
So I walk up to the counter and ask for what I want, and then handed her the halves while saying "I'm sorry, this is all I have.. they are half dollar coins."
Counter lady: "ugh... really
? are you serious?"
Me: "Yes, i'm sorry"
(Counter lady takes them and looks at them confusedly)
(opens them slowly, then starts to place them in stacks of two for counting)
(She then realizes that there is apparently not enough space on her 2ftx2ft desk.. xD)
(She clears her table then begins stacking the rest of them)
Me: "I'm sorry again..."
(Counter lady heads to the back and comes back with her supervisor)
(They begin counting the coins together, with the supervisor clearing ANOTHER desk to count on)
Supervisor: "Why do you have all these coins anyways
??"
Me: ""oh... they were just sitting around my house and I need to get rid of them...and I don't have cash"
(They both begin counting their own piles... )
Supervisor: How many you have so far?
Counter lady: huh?
(counter lady loses count then begins a new system of stacking the coins in higher stacks for better efficiency)
(counter lady then begins leveling out other stacks of coins with the current one she just finished... but then realizes that she didn't even know how many were in one stack in the first place... she gets frustrated and just gathers them all up again...)
Me thinking: (The coins weren't even all of the same thickness, right?)
When all was said and done, they were still counting when she finally just handed me my tickets and sent me on my way. (trust me, there is way more to the story, but I won't bore you with the details, haha)
fun stuff I tell ya.
HSH, everyone!
