Noticed a grader parked where the old High School used to stand. It's now a grass lot, and has been pounded by detectorists over the years. Anyway, yesterday they scraped off about an 8" layer of dirt to prep a new surface...Hmmm...Decided to hit it that evening - found a '54 Wheatie and a '20 Merc...They did more scraping today, my buddy and I hit it this evening - I got another Wheatie - 1911- & my friend wound up scoring an 1880 Indian and a 1903 Barber Dime. (Sorry no pix - wife took the camera out of town) Anyway, earth moving equipment at an old school is a rare treat. Hope to do it again tomorrow. Happy Hunting!

Nice opportunity hunt, they don't happen too often. You made some nice finds! Congrats and HH, Mike

Where did they move the dirt to? You have to imagine there might be something good left in it.

Good job catching it at the right time. Nice finds too. Good luck to you!!!

The crew dumped a few tons of rock on the site today - guess the partys over - nice to have saved a little history while we could! Thanks for visiting!

I think what he Is asking is where did the scraping's Go..Thats the lead U want to follow up now the other ground Is covered over.

I hope you get in more hunts there before they pave it.

Yeah that's what I meant. I would think that there should be a lot of goodies down around the 8 inch mark that might have been move in to a big pile.
