Gpx 5000 ground balancing

When i first bought this i was able to ground balance it. But after using it for a month and playing with different settings i try to ground balance it now and i get no beep when pushing the button to balance iit now . I am using it for large targets. Float copper. I have got frustrated and went back to using my equinox 800. I have found pieces at over 3feet deep with the 800 so i would think with the 5000 it should go alot deeper if set up correctly. Thanks Mike.
