Heres the finds from an hour and half poking around my grandmothers place. It was more of a test and I bypassed alot of hits due to time. I did find a first though.....a 1900 indian head which was actually half out of the ground real close to the house. Also in the pics is a US uniform pin that I just dug out of my yard like 2 hours ago ....... what can I say....I needed my fix for the day. I am getting a garrett ATPRO within two months and going back to Grannies with that....too much junk ( my yard has a ton also)

Nice pin!! Sometimes you get an itch that you gotta scratch. Lol. You scratched it pretty good! Really like the pin.

It IS a collar pin--for one or more branches of service. I'm in the Air Force and officers (enlisted wear a similar but different pin) wear that pin on both lapels on their service dress uniform. The only clue I can give you as to the date is the fastener; yours appears to be not the current style which leads me to believe it's somewhat older--how old though, I can't say without google's help--see page 45 of the pdf document: http://www.af.mil/shared/media/epubs/afi36-2903.pdf

Nice finds. Regarding the pin, it could be from ww2....it could be from an Iraqi vet. Doubt iraq but point im making is your best luck on dating is asking grandma who served in the military out of her (your) family
Again nice finds!
