So I sent nepawill the coordinates for my corn field and he started researching it for me and found out that my hotspot was a former cider mill. I pulled lots of coppers and buttons from that site over the past two years. we thought we found another property on the opposite end of the field so I gridded that for a while and it was radio silence. not a peep to be heard anywhere. I think the old map is off a little bit, anyhow I figured while I was there I would go back to my hotspot. I'm glad I did! Check out this cool flat button, the front has two birds on it and the back says "Turner Hammond and sons" even though I didn't find another site at the field I'm happy with today's two hour hunt! thanks for looking and HH!! 20150502_092840.webp20150502_092850.webp20150502_101733-1.webp
I also found a 1987 quarter which nearly gave me a heart attack, a modern bullet, and this older pocket knife

That button is awesome. Two Pheasants. I think Hammond Turner and Sons without Snowhill, Birmingham is 1850. Thats what i found anyway. Killer find, Congrats!

Hi Cjon Lovely button there, none of your pictures will load up for me when clicked on must be huge :BangHead:

Ah that buttons for the birds!

Actually it one of the coolest flat buttons I've seen! If I found it I'd fasten to one of my favorite coats!

Congrats and keep hunting that spot!

Like that dug green! In all the buttons we dig here I'm surprised how few there is of those types.

Very nice looking button.

Congrats on both the finds, and finding out the history of the site. I really like being able to make the connection between the finds and why they were there.

Are those pheasants or grouses? I dug a powder flask a couple years ago with a similar looking bird motif, and it turned out they were grouses. Cool find either way!

If GAPmetal gives his approval, by golly she's a good one! I like it whether Gary approves or not though lol. You got yourself a good one for the display.

I believe Bill is right in saying they are probably grouse. They don't have a male pheasant's tail anyway.

thanks jc, I've been hitting thay field for 3 yrs and figured a homesite because of pottery, nails, red brick, and of course coins/buttons, the cider mill is surprising
