I doubled down on my usual searching amount today and it paid off nicely!

- 1967, two 1968-D's & a 1969-D

- My first 1974-D doubled die!!

- My first 1987-D!!!

I'm delirious about these results! At last I get to examine a 74-D close up (where's that 30X magnifier of mine!). The T in Liberty exhibits doubling too. Is that typical? And I had a silly smile on my face all day because of the 87. I was down to the last two coins of a roll and this proof-like reverse greeted me. It looked like something different but I never expected an 87. It looks like it just came out of a mint set.

Good luck on those boxes, rolls and loose singles everyone!

Oh yes! They were only released in mint sets that year. Mintage was 2.9 million. There isn't any extra value as a result, it's just awesome finding one in circulation. As my dad would say, they're as scarce as hen's teeth.

Congrats on your finds!!!
I still haven't found one of those double die 74D's
I just hope I didn't miss any. Could you post a picture so I can see exactly what I am looking for?

Good job IMMY, I keep hoping for one of those 74-D DD. I get cross-eyed trying to see doubling in the "RUS", especially when they seem a little fatter than normal.

Congratulations on the Double, and on the 1987-D. Thats the first of your "triple crown", 1970-D, 1987-D and 1987-P!

Thanks, Immy for the reminder to keep checking the 1974D's... fortunately, I still have most of my halves. I went back and rechecked them all. Out of 6 1974D's, nada. Oh well, lesson learned. Thanks!
