8-) DiggerDanbo here!
Just joined today and am looking forward to this new hobby. I have not purchased a detector but I am putting in the research hours. Any help from the members on whether I should stick with a VLF or go for a PI detector. I plan on using it on the the shoreline mostly, sand and salt, but I want to be able to also use it inland. Looks like there are many options. I have whittled my selections to these 3:
Makro Racer 2
Whites Surfmaster
Tesoro Sand Shark
Any opinions or actually experiences would be appreciated

Thanks

WELCOME FROM MARYLAND . MY MACHINE FOR DRY SAND AND LAND HUNTING IS THE A/T PRO OR THE WHITES V3I . YOU WILL GET MANY OPINIONS LOL.... JUST MY OPINION , BUT DONT SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY ON YOUR FIRST MACHINE , AFTER YOU DETECT FOR A WHILE YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER IDEA WHAT YOU WANT.

Welcome to TNet from Virginia! Down under the Metal Detecting Section is a Sub-Forum for Beach and Shallow Water Hunting. You might want to scope this out but I agree with mooncusser in holding off spending too much until you know what you really want to hunt. There are also great refurbished machines that can be bought out there for less. I'll buy a factory refurb at a lower cost and get a good machine for a good price. But everyone has their own opinions. Good Luck and let us know how your hunts go!

Welcome Aboard DiggerDanbo! Take a look at Sub-Forums: New Hampshire for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome to Tnet,,
Your budget and where you hunt, is what will determine which detector you pick. In my opinion, stay away from the P.I. machines.

Welcome to TNET DiggerDanbo & wish you many treasures & enjoy your new hobby.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I am so itching to buy a machine but will continue to research for now. So I will throw one more question out there and see what kind of advice comes back. Let me set my introductory (1st) detector budget at $500 bucks. I do not like to buy used so what machines should I consider.:dontknow:
