Friend of mine is stumped and asked if I might be able to help. He bought a Griswold Bean Cooking Pot from auction barn recently. He ask me if I knew what the ring on the side was for. Told him that I thought it was for hanging up on a hook like you see in someone's kitchen over their counter for storage. I have searched the web but cannot verify that theory. Was hoping someone here at the treasure net could help. Thanks in advance

"Tip Ring". (?)
At least another brand kettle was described by some one as being.

I don't see a bail handle in your pictures.
A tip ring would allow holding the bail with one hand and tilting the pot/kettle with the other by the ring.

A Erie (Pre- Griswold) description calls it a pull ring. Adjusting it's position on a fire or wood range maybe.
