Thanks to HawBuck for showing me the page of the book I chipped a small flake off and sure enough it was concrete both of them. I went back to the place and the guy tried to lie again saying he personaly found them in a field. I got angry and took out my phone and showed him the picture of the page he still tried to lie. I got even more angry (Not so much about the money about him lieing and saying he found em) I took one and bashed the other and showed him the insides CONCRETE. Once he knew that I knew the jig was up. He then switched his story saying he bought them at an astate sale. After telling him what I felt of his lieing arse and throwing them on the ground he took out $50 and gave it to me. I told him I would be telling everyone that he was a crook and I left. Thanks to HawBuck for the help and everyone else who PM'ed or wrote...

this is what i want to do at most well all flea markets, it pees me off to know people are selling fakes, legally can u let people know that u think they are fakes and why, cause i will do that all day at a flea market by my house where beginers are getting screwed

Good for you, I'm glad you got your money back! :icon_thumleft: Now get out there and see what you can find!!! :headbang:

Trev, I stopped a guy from spending $300 on a fake at our local Flea Market a couple years back. He was looking at this 9 inch point that this seller had had for a long time and I had told him numerous times it was a repro and he wouldn't hear it. He kept saying his buddy found it near Hillsboro, Ohio. For one, it was an obvious Gray Ghost and for two, it was made of Edwards Plateau Flint and was slab cut. I even brought a picture down of one identical to it and he told me I was nuts.

So anyway, on this particular day I just happened to go by as he was telling this man that he wanted $500 for it but he would let him have it for $300. I couldn't let the guy get ripped off so I stepped in and told the guy it was a repro and that it wasn't worth any more than $50 to $100 and it really pissed the seller off. I looked him right in the eye and told him I had been collecting for 46 years and there was no way I was going to let him rip someone off with a fake Point and that I would do it again. The man that almost bought it thanked me for helping and told the man he should be ashamed of himself for trying to rip people off. I didn't see that seller there this past summer so he probably just set up somewhere else and ripped them off.

That's actually a great update. Lying people piss me off more than anything. Then they try to adjust the story. Once you lie you can't un-lie. Just don't do it in the first place. It happens all the time - "I found this is 1985" "I personally witnessed it dug in-situ 5 years ago". just tell the truth. The only thing that makes people look stupider than lying is lying again to cover up the first lie.

Good job Fun! I cannot stand a crook either!

that is my dream Grim, lol. im going to start letting the sellers know there fake and when they say no they found it, sorry buddy im going to confront u and bug u till u leave, lol
