GTAx 550 or the New Ace 250 ? Garrett on Trial.

Just a quick question for people who may know. My friend wants to get into TH'ing here in Germany. I own a GTAx 550 (not quite a year old) and have had a lot of fun (and success) with it. I have read about the new Treasure Ace 250 and it seems to be pretty good for a $199-$250 detector, but can it do everything a GTAx 550 can do? I have looked around but can not find any side by side tests on it.

He needs something with decent depth and good discrimination but costs under $400.00. The main type of hunting he plans on doing is coin, and relic hunting in woods, rocky areas and fields. (around ruins)

Thanks for any help on this.

Re: GTAx 550 or the New Ace 250??? Garrett on the stand.

Well I was thinking the 250 as well due to its lower price and rave user reviews. But can it perform as good as a GTAx 550? Over here the ground has lots of garbage (we are talking about 3000 years plus history) And as I said my 550 is VERY good at seperating trash from good finds, do you know if the 250 can do this as well?

???And if yes then why does Garrett sell the 550 for more?
