i found this pistol handle a few weeks ago...it's solid brass with some iron encrusted on the handle. Found it near an old house site where grapeshot, musket balls , old colonial era buttons and harmonica reeds have been found. Is this part of a toy gun or part of a derringer or boot pistol?

I would guess real. Search brass frame pistol.

With it being brass and iron I would also guess real. All the cap guns I have dug or had as a kid were very light and mostly plastic grips, the frame of the guns were some type of cast metal. Cool find, HH Charlie

bigcypresshunter is correct I believe. Too far gone to really be able to identify it unless some numbers or inscriptions are found. There were literally dozens of different models made and even some modern replicas. I think it's original however. Monty
