If the homeowner still has the "previous" hunters name & phone number,
it would be worth a call to set this jerk straight and keep him from ruining
potential sites for others.

Maybe a goodwill gesture on your part of offering to "tidy-up" this idiot's blunders
may smooth things over and garner you a nice site to hunt. . . plus, a new friend.

All the best.

I found that talking to these types of jerks is just that, talk. They did not have a clue before they dug and left those holes , and talking to them does NOT enlighten them one bit. They think they are going by the rules...THEIR RULES... and that is ALL they need to know about life.

I'm not trying to discourage you from talking till your blue in the face. But that slob is a slob, is a slob, is a slob and will not change for reality sake.

........OFFER THE HOMEOWNER A SIX PACK OF BUD WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED..........Even if you do not get a new site..... maybe you will gain a new drinking partner..........LOL......Joe

well i went back and talked to the owner and told him i would fix the mess the other guy left because i told him i didnt want him to think that all of us was bad.he said ok.well i got the shovel out of my truck and started repairing the holes best i could.he came over to me and said that i had proved myself to him and he will let me detect it.he said what ever i find i can keep.i also found out that this was the slaves house and he showed me where the main house once stood.still some stone foundation left.the guy that owned this place was one of the richest people in the area at the time.so im gonna get started asap.will keep you all updated with pics of my finds.

Communication and correcting other mistakes has helped. Hope you do well.

Kenny, Did those coins come from the log house or from the site of the original old homeplace? Have you gotten to check it out yet?

I think you are gonna find some sweet as things around there, keep us posted with any more finds!

Sasnz

thoes coins came from aroung the slave house.ill keep u posted.

You did real well on making things right with the home owner. Some guys are jerks or maybe he bought his detector from mail order and didn't get any instruction on how to retrieve a coin or fill in the holes. Many newbies are not inconsiderate, just uninformed. Some should be shot if they keep doing the mess.
